2-Seat Land Yacht

We have made a 2-seat Land Yacht. The design is taken from features of various single seat Land Yachts on the Internet, including the Blo-kart, as well as from some land yachts that we had at Yeppoon in North Queensland.

The construction is welded aluminium powdercoated.
The yacht can be dismantled into mostly straight pieces which fit into a canvas bag, whilst the carbon fibre mast, sail and wishbone are from a windsurfer.

The wheels are worn  6.00 x 6 aircraft wheels from a Piper Cherokee 140, mounted in commercial trailer hubs with high speed bearings.

Here is a picture of the land yachts we had at Yeppoon. They were made from cheap square section steel tube welded into a Tee shape, with a seat bolted in the middle, and a catamaran mast with stays running to the extremities of the yacht. There was a simple cable operated foot steering system to the nosewheel. It is hard to imagine a simpler construction.
When we test the Landyacht soon we will give a report of its' performance.
